Prelims are really near
The prelims are really drawing close with exactly 2 weeks and 1 more day before its start. Everyday seemed to be quite a mad drive to study and to revise.
Seriously i got to get some breathing space soon, at least let off some steam, a bit too much chionging than usual already have some damages on me. I got nth much to say in this post except tt i finally got my photos taken during competition and i will post them soon if i can. Well good luck to all and ya, i placed a countdown to remind all taking A levels of our ultimate goal.
The memories shall stay
The whole holiday we have trained so hard, swam so hard and pull the manikin so hard. All these hard work finally paid off when we participated in the NUS Invitationals Lifesaving Competition. I can really say it was quite memorable.
Just for your info, the competition comprised of events as follows:
-200m obstacle swim and 4x50m obstacle relay
(where there are fencing placed at 12m at both ends of pool n we have to swim under it)
-50m manikin carry and 4x25m manikin carry
(where we are supposed to tow a manikin fully filled with water for 25m keeping its face above water at all times)
-100m manikin carry with fins
(we tow the manikin for 50m after a 50m swim)
-12m Line Throw relay
(where we throw a rope n pull our partners at 12m mark back within 30secs)
-4x50m medley relay
(where 1st swimmer swims without fins, 2nd swimmer with fins, 3rd swimmer with rescue tube and 4th swimmer with rescue tube n 3rd swimmer with fins and holding on to tube, kicking)
-100m rescue medley
(where 1 has to swim 50m then swim 17.5 m underwater before bringing up the fully filled manikin n tow it back to starting pt)
-100m manikin tow with fins
(where 1 has to swim 50m with fins n rescue tube n tow a manikin that is half filled using the tube for 50m)
We performed quite well amongst the strong opponents from NUS, NTU, Water-Sapians, SP,Ngee Ann Poly, TP, Swimming Teachers Association, Sports Eagles, MJC and Stingray Club.
We did not win much for the competition except for Xiang Un getting 3rd for his 200m obstacle swim. Overall, all of us broke our personal best timings which was a great achievement and managed to keep within 2 DQs for each team cos the rules are quite stringent.
Well for me, i took part in the obstacle relay, manikin relay, medley relay, line throw relay and 50m manikin carry. My team, team B was DQ for the obstacle and medley relays. Other than that, we out-performed ourselves as compared to previous timings.
Sad to say is tt my highest chance of winning, the line throw got a 4th placing losing only a mere 0.6 sec to the 3rd place. It seems quite sad. In any case, all we achieved yesterday were all the effort of our competition coach Jeremy. Seriously, i m really grateful to him and really thank him for the effort put in to train us and the trust and believe he had in us.
Well, we also handed over the operations of the CCA to the J1s yesterday. It seems quite sad to again leave another CCA since sec school. Finally it is going to be the mad rush for the A levels. Well, good luck for mugging and finally the As to all J2 out there.
